#33: Dental Floss
Have you flossed today? If you haven’t, this microscopic image of dental floss is your friendly reminder to do so. We’ve decided not to traumatize you all because this close-up is an image of dental floss before it was used. You’re welcome. As you can see, this squeaky-clean piece of floss is free of unidentified residue and gross pieces of food.
Interestingly, dental floss is not just one big string. Each strand is actually made up of dozens of tinier fibers that work together to create floss as we know and love it. If you want to see what a piece of floss looks like post-use when under a microscope, you can go ahead and search for that yourself. Just remember that you can’t unsee it.
