Trees are some of the most fascinating living organisms on our planet. They feed us, they filter our air, and they provide us with plenty of mental health benefits. What’s not to love? Another thing about trees is that they’re incredibly cool. Take the inside of a banana tree, for example. This image shows the base of a banana tree trunk as it’s being cut down.
Pretty wild, right? Without context, this picture looks like something from an alien planet. The inside of a banana tree consists of concentric circles of banana stalks, which are edible. The goo that is stretched out in the middle of this picture is actually naturally sticky enough to act as glue. We wonder if it smells like bananas…
