As Chris McCandless’ Condition Deteriorated, The Entries in His Diary Got More and More Cryptic.
On July 8, Chris McCandless made his way back to the bus, but this time he encountered even greater trouble. Because he was exerting more energy than he was taking in, he was falling further and further behind in his physical fitness. Even Chris’s notes in his journal started getting shorter and more melancholy as time went on. Chris penned the last post in his journal on the 107th day of his time spent in the outdoors.
Only one comment, “Beautiful Blueberries,” came out of his mouth. He was at a loss for words. During the remaining 113 days, Chris did not write anything other than slashes. On the 132nd day of the explorer’s voyage, the bus that Chris was driving was found by moose hunters. Once inside, one of the hunters thought it was a bag of rotting food and confused it for the bag. Chris had passed away.
