Every Year, The Local Authorities Conduct Rescue Operations on the Stampede Trail For several Hikers.
We do not know how many people have made it to Chris McCandless’ bus, but we do know that several people who were lost on the route have been found and saved. According to Lynn Macaloon, who is the public information officer for the national park, every year, state troopers, firefighters, and park rangers are all called in to assist in rescuing hikers who have been lost or are otherwise incapacitated.
According to Lynn’s calculations, “a handful” rescues occur yearly. The Stampede Trail is responsible for 75 per cent of the rescues carried out by the Alaska State Troopers, as stated by these officers. In 2013, two amazing rescues took place. In May of that year, three hikers from Germany required assistance and had to be rescued. After exactly one month had passed, a military chopper came to the rescue of three further hikers who had become trapped in the snow. Those people who are spared from danger are the fortunate ones.
