Back in My Day…
It’s a fact. While we don’t have to trek uphill both ways in the snow to go to school, living through 2020 was akin to a lifetime of “What?” crammed into twelve short months. That isn’t entirely accurate, though. It spilled over into 2021 as well. I’ll never forget the terrible toilet paper shortage of 2020! (Of course, there was never really a problem; it was all based on unfounded panic).
Interestingly, this is a painting of a contented monk by renowned artist Eduard von Grützner. That’s right – the expression on his face is supposedly one of happiness. However, to me, he looks a little fed up with it all, as if he’s wondering how the younger generation could possibly think they have it tough. Maybe I’m projecting my own feelings onto him!
