True Colors
When I was a kid, my mother made fun of my pals and me for our punk-rock days. She didn’t understand how we could claim to be unique if we all appeared the same (in her opinion). The greatest remark made beneath this comic strip was: “I’m so distinct, just like everyone else.” To which someone else replied, “Me too.” However, do people really dye their hair blue, pink, green, or purple as a means of being distinctive and different?
It’s possible that it goes the other way around. Maybe they do it to be like people they perceive to be similar to them or to belong to a certain tribe or subculture. Or perhaps they enjoy doing it for the sake of it because it’s trendy and in vogue. There are actually a variety of reasons why you would want your hair to be vivid color. I think that each reason is equally valid (and any hairstylist would heartily agree).
