Elephants Are Revered
There is a special relationship between human beings and elephants in India that has existed for centuries. The relationship is far more complex than the usual man and animal relationships you can expect to find between pet owners and their pets or between zookeepers and animals in our zoos here.
About 50% of all elephants in the world are found in India where they enjoy a special status in society. They are closely associated with religion as well as myths and history. They are loved by everyone and have been a symbol of Indian cultural heritage for hundreds of centuries.
