The Tu-144 Was A Failure For The Soviets
In commercial travel, speed is crucial. The Tupolev TU-144 was a supersonic transport aircraft planned for commercial flight, with a top speed of 1,200 miles per hour. However, the plane was a failure in the end, since the Tu-144 had numerous unreliable flights throughout the years. On the final flight of the aircraft in 1978, for example, a fuel tank valve failed.
Another difficulty with the Tu-144, in addition to the other issues and safety concerns, made it one that customers despised. It was deafening. Passengers, even those sitting next to each other, were alleged to have to trade notes just to talk.
