The Imperial Feast: A feast that lasted three days and served shark fin soup
The Manchu-Han Imperial Feast was first held in 1636 to honor the 66th birthday of the Kangxi Emperor of China. It is recorded as one of the largest banquets in history, consisting of six different banquets over a period of three days. All regions of China were represented with their own local delicacies served to guests attending from all across the empire.
With a menu boasting over 300 items, there was bound to be something for everyone. From the traditional bear paws and monkey brains to more exotic dishes like peacock and shark fin soup, we had it all.
