#24: Hill’s Snappy Service
Hill’s Snappy Service was, as one reviewer put it, “the place to be” at the time. Now of course this chain is really just a memory, though Worth Point still offers vintage collectibles from the old restaurant. Paul C. Hill started Snappy Service in 1925. He opened the first of several chain restaurants in Trenton, Missouri.

Hill hoped to compete with big chains like White Castle and, later, . HSS continued to expand throughout the decades, but slow sales and an inability to compete against big corporations would be the chain’s downfall. Only a few of the stands lasted until the eighties.
