#41: Wuv’s
Wuv’s was founded by Jack Penrod, a serial entrepreneur who founded a lot of different franchise businesses. Wuv’s was a chain of burger restaurants started in 1975, but it was short-lived, with the business filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1981. Wuv’s International Inc. was founded in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The exact number of franchises that Wuv’s had is unclear and unlisted, likely due to its short-lived existence. However, Penrod’s reputation has followed him farther than Wuv’s, as the State of Florida named April 17 “Jack Penrod Day” as a tribute to his contributions to improving Miami and South Beach.
