#45: Cuppy’s Coffee
Cuppy’s Coffee was owned by Mobile Restaurants, along with its sister chain, Java Jo’z. The chain was founded in 2006, and it folded in 2009, but several franchisees still often use the Cuppy’s Coffee moniker in their shops despite Cuppy’s no longer being anything more than a name.

Dale Nabors founded the company. Nabors was accused of fraud shortly after his specialty coffee chains opened. In Alabama, in 2009, a warrant went out for Nabor on charges of fraud. He was arrested in Alabama and extradited to Florida. Though his stores had grown rapidly (200 locations in two years), that was proven to be based on fraudulent claims.
