If you’re Gen X, you know that there’s nothing more romantic than receiving a personalized mixtape from your crush. Making a mixtape was serious business! Choosing the order of the songs, recording them, and then writing out all the titles on the paper cover took hours if not days. If someone took the time to make you one, they were totally into you.
It seems that the art of the mixtape has been lost to time. Sure, you can make a Spotify playlist for someone, but it’s just not the same. There’s something about owning a physical item made especially for you by someone you care about. Spending hours listening to a mixtape on your Walkman, reading between the lines of lyrics and song names for a deeper, more romantic meaning, was truly incredible.
