“Bloody Ice, or What”
Inflows from the glacier itself. You might think that this eerie flow looks like blood, but it’s actually just iron-rich water. In other words, it’s the same element that gives Mars its distinctive red color. Antarctica, strange things happen. The Blood Falls glacier is home to a blood-red stream that derives its name from the color: red.
Although the source of this iron remains a mystery, the sight is impressive nonetheless. Despite the water’s demonic appearance, it isn’t from a cheesy B movie. Instead, it’s just the result of geology, oceanography, and a smattering of glaciology colliding together. A blended combination of different geographical and geological phenomenons!
