On Ice Planes
Crash technology is one of the other odd things that scientists have discovered in ice. Astonishing, even if this technology isn’t that old. Things that have been lost for a long time have a way of reappearing. Military planes were known to crash into glaciers in Alaska in the 1950s and ’60s, such as this one in Anchorage in 1952.
At least 41 passengers and 11 crew members were killed when the plane crashed into the ocean. However, no debris could be recovered because of the hazardous conditions (as is familiar with glaciers). The glacier wouldn’t budge for another 50 years, necessitating a salvage mission. A cruel turn of events indeed!
