How to Build a Perfectionist
We’ve seen a previous story about the dangers of over-praising your kids. As we mentioned, constantly assuring kids they’re the “smartest child in the world” or “more brilliant than everyone else” can contribute to their frustration and inability to handle criticism, but developing perfectionism and OCD is also an expected outcome of this parenting tactic.

Feeling like you are the most intelligent person alive is a huge weight to carry, and it would probably feel very lonely too. Suppose a kid grows up with the constant reminder that they’re the most intelligent being ever. In that case, they will eventually become adults constantly chasing this reassurance in all spheres of their lives.
