#51: No More Room
This all comes down to educational funding. Some states have managed to keep the student-teacher ratio closer to 15:1, but many are far above that. Some classrooms are being forced to hold 40+ kids in the same rooms that used to house 18. It’s not like more space magically appears, either.
Nope, these classrooms are rearranged until they’re stuffed to the gills with desks. Sadly, teachers have no control over this situation, and the people in charge are a bit disconnected over the whole process. I genuinely believe that only retired teachers should be on the school board, but after years of being in classrooms, I really can’t blame them for not dealing with the politics.
