Mississippi – An Avid Fighter For The Union
Around the mid-nineteenth century, Henry S. Foote was a Governor and Senator from Mississippi. This photograph was taken by one of the most renowned photographers of the time, Matthew Brady, in 1844. Foote became known for standing up for what he believed in and compromising to preserve the Union, which was uncommon at that time.
Indeed, his hard effort and efforts contributed to the delay in the war. During his term, he also terminated his legal research and even published two journals and a book before bidding farewell to the world.
